The helpline number was launched on October 9, 2023, in the run-up to the upcoming Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh. Police officials said that they will take action against those found spreading misleading or false information on social media.
"We are committed to ensuring that the upcoming elections are conducted in a free and fair manner," said an official from the Indore Police. "We appeal to the citizens to help us in this endeavor by reporting any misleading or false information that they come across on social media."
