Concern Over Poor Waste Management in Bhopal

I am writing to express concern over the deteriorating condition of waste management in various parts of Bhopal. Despite multiple cleanliness drives and awareness campaigns, the situation on the ground tells a different story. Garbage bins in many localities like Kolar Road, Ashoka Garden, and areas around BHEL often overflow due to irregular collection. In some places, waste is dumped openly on roadsides and near residential colonies, attracting stray animals and creating a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other pests.
This mismanagement not only affects the appearance of our city but poses serious health risks, especially with the rising temperatures. Residents have reported foul smells, clogged drains, and an increase in vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria.

While the Bhopal Municipal Corporation has made efforts, the implementation remains weak. There is an urgent need for stricter monitoring of waste collection services, penalties for illegal dumping, and better infrastructure for waste segregation and disposal.

I urge the authorities to act promptly and responsibly to address this growing civic issue. I also appeal to citizens to do their part in maintaining cleanliness and following waste segregation norms.
Thank you for shedding light on such civic concerns through your newspaper.

Yours sincerely,
