Yashodhara raje Scindia supporters hold rally in Bhopal to demand her to contest 2023 assembly elections

Yashodhara raje Scindia, the sports minister of Madhya Pradesh, has refused to contest the 2023 assembly elections citing health reasons. This has led to protests by her supporters in Bhopal, the state capital.

On Saturday, hundreds of BJP workers from Shivpuri, Scindia's constituency, gathered at the state BJP headquarters in Bhopal. They met with state BJP in-charge Bhupendra Yadav and urged him to convince Scindia to contest the elections.

"Yashodhara raje Scindia is the daughter of the BJP founder rajmata vijayaraje Scindia, and she is a popular leader in Shivpuri," said a BJP worker from Shivpuri. "If she doesn't contest the elections, it will send a wrong message. We are ready to take on the responsibility of her campaign."

The workers also said that Scindia's mother, Vijayaraje Scindia, had also faced a similar situation in the past. "When Vijayaraje Scindia was ill, the workers had taken on the responsibility of her campaign," said another worker. "We are ready to do the same again."

In addition to BJP workers, the rally also included members of non-political organizations, religious leaders, and the city qazi.

It remains to be seen whether Scindia will change her mind and contest the elections. However, the protests by her supporters suggest that she is facing strong pressure to do so.
