The jam started intensifying after 1 PM and vehicles were literally moving inch by inch. Drivers looked exhausted, sweating badly in the scorching sun. Many said their vehicles got scratched due to the tight space and few drivers even came out and fought. Local residents had to intervene to calm things down.
The biggest anger among people was that despite such a huge jam, neither traffic police nor any personnel from Ashbagh police station were visible anywhere to manage the situation.
Till now, the exact reason for the jam has not been officially stated, but locals believe Sunday market crowd and some ongoing road work could be the trigger.
Additional update: Since morning, many parts of Bhopal including MP Nagar, 10 No. Market and Board Office Square have been facing heavy traffic pressure. IMD has issued heat alert for the next two days plan your travel accordingly.
