Significant Discrepancies in Monsoon Activity
There are still significant irregularities in the continuity and activity of the monsoon in Haryana NCR Delhi. Only 10 districts have recorded above-normal monsoon rainfall, while 12 districts, including Ambala, Charkhi Dadri, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panchkula, Panipat, Rohtak, Sonipat, and Yamunanagar, are still awaiting the monsoon. Haryana has received a total of 70.9 mm of rainfall from June 1 to July 7, compared to the normal 78.5 mm for this period, which is 10% less.
Fragmented Monsoon Activity Observed
According to meteorologist Dr. Chander Mohan, there is no consistent pattern in the monsoon activity in Haryana NCR Delhi at present. The situation remains fragmented, with rain in the northern parts and dry conditions in the southern parts, and similarly, rain in the western parts and dry conditions in the eastern parts. Although the monsoon made a strong entry into Haryana NCR Delhi on June 28, continuous monsoon activity has only been observed in the southern parts of Haryana.
Western Disturbances Revive Monsoon in Western Parts
The weakened western disturbances have revived the monsoon in the western parts, particularly in Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani, and Mahendragarh. The monsoon trough line plays a crucial role in monsoon activities and is currently located south of Haryana NCR Delhi. Today, Sunday, the monsoon trough is slightly south of its normal position, extending from Jaisalmer to Sikar, Urai, Churk, Daltonganj, Purulia, and Kontai, reaching the northeastern Bay of Bengal. As the monsoon trough moves over Haryana NCR Delhi, monsoon activities will be observed throughout the region.
Weather Conditions Expected to Remain Variable
The effect of the western disturbance will be seen in Haryana NCR Delhi, especially in the western and southern districts and northern parts, until tomorrow, July 8. If the monsoon trough line remains south over Rajasthan, Haryana NCR Delhi will experience intermittent cloud cover and only scattered light rain, leading to variable weather conditions. Due to the high humidity in the atmosphere, the entire area will face humid and sweaty conditions. Additionally, a new western disturbance is expected to activate on July 12, bringing another round of increased monsoon activity from July 12-15.
Recent Heavy Rains in Western Districts
On Saturday night and Sunday, good monsoon rains were observed in the western districts of Haryana. Today, Monday, light rain and drizzle activities are expected in Haryana NCR Delhi due to the western disturbance and the monsoon. Mahendragarh district has been particularly favored by the monsoon since its arrival on June 28. From June 1 to July 7, Mahendragarh district recorded a total of 148.8 mm of rainfall, compared to the normal 78.1 mm, which is 91% above normal.
