Madhya Pradesh: Woman minister's brother and brother-in-law arrested for ganja smuggling

Madhya Pradesh Minister Pratima Bagri's brother Anil Bagri arrested by Satna police in major ganja smuggling case. Police recovered 46 kg ganja from the car he was traveling in along with accomplice Pankaj Singh. A third accused, Shailendra Singh, who is the minister's brother-in-law, is already in Banda jail after being caught by UP Police on December 3 with over 50 kg ganja.

According to police, acting on a tip-off, a checkpoint was set up on Monday where a Maharashtra-registered car (MH 49 BB 9699) was intercepted. Anil Bagri (son of Jay Pratap Bagri, resident of Bharhut Nagar, Hardua) and Pankaj Singh (resident of Matha) were caught red-handed. Both were produced in court and sent to Satna Central Jail. Interestingly, the third accused Shailendra Singh (resident of Virat Nagar), shown as absconding in the Satna FIR, is the same person who was arrested by Banda Police in Uttar Pradesh just five days ago in a separate ganja smuggling case.

This has now exposed a possible inter-state ganja supply chain involving family members of a sitting minister. Police are investigating the full network and more arrests are expected in the coming days.
