BHOPAL, June 22, 2026:
In a significant move to bolster transparency and accountability in governance, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed that a comprehensive "Social Audit" of all development activities be presented to the public this Independence Day. During a review meeting of the Planning, Economics, and Statistics Department, the Chief Minister emphasized that the government must remain answerable to its citizens regarding the progress of welfare schemes and infrastructure projects.

Madhya Pradesh Independence Day Social Audit for Transparent Governance
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has instructed that on August 15, the ministers in charge of each district must present a detailed account of development works and the achievements of welfare schemes at district headquarters. To make this information accessible to the general public, special exhibitions will be organized at the celebration venues, showcasing the impact of various government initiatives. This presentation is designed to function as a social audit of development works in Madhya Pradesh, ensuring that the results of state planning are visible and verifiable by the community.

Centralized Statistical Data Platform and Private Investment Promotion in MP
To streamline administrative efficiency, Dr. Yadav has mandated the creation of a centralized digital platform for state-wide statistical data, which will host department-wise, division-wise, and district-wise information in one place. Furthermore, a major conference for District Development Committees will be held in the capital, Bhopal. These committees have been tasked with ensuring active participation in government planning while also working proactively to encourage private investment in Madhya Pradesh districts to boost local economies.

Eco-Friendly Affordable Housing and Public Safety Measures in MP Constituencies Under the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Constituency Development Scheme, the Chief Minister highlighted the necessity of installing CCTV cameras in public places to enhance security. Additionally, he emphasized the transition toward sustainable housing solutions using eco-friendly building materials for affordable housing projects. The Chief Minister also stressed that a robust system for the maintenance of completed works must be established, and individuals who introduce innovations or perform exceptionally well in constituency development will be officially incentivized.

Simplified Death Registration Process at Cremation Grounds for Rural Relief
In a citizen-centric reform aimed at reducing bureaucratic hurdles, the Chief Minister directed the formulation of a plan to initiate the death registration process at Vishram Ghats (cremation grounds). This initiative is specifically designed to assist residents of rural and semi-urban areas, making it significantly easier for them to obtain death certificates without having to navigate complex administrative channels. This move reflects the government's commitment to the simplification of citizen services in Madhya Pradesh.

Context-Based District Development Index for Agriculture and Industrial Hubs
Recognizing that different regions have unique needs, Dr. Yadav stated that the District Development Index (DDI) should be based on local conditions and requirements. He instructed that separate development indices be established for districts with industrial backgrounds, those with agriculture-based economies, and those rich in forest resources. Moreover, the state will provide technical guidance to rural residents building their own homes and launch awareness campaigns to promote natural farming practices in Madhya Pradesh.

Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan and Social Welfare Milestones in MP
The review meeting also highlighted the success of the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan in Madhya Pradesh, where local committees actively participated in cleaning wells, step-wells (baoris), ponds, and river ghats. On the social welfare front, a dedicated campaign for the identification and registration of nomadic and semi-nomadic families has already recorded data for over 25,000 families on the state portal. Simultaneously, the Mission Karmayogi training for MP officials is underway to ensure that the state's workforce is well-equipped to implement these progressive reforms.
